Anchorpoint Plans HKDAP Launch on Solana for Tokenized Assets

Tokenization

Anchorpoint plans to bring Hong Kong dollar stablecoin HKDAP to Solana, supporting faster payments, regulated access, and tokenized asset adoption.

Anchorpoint plans to bring HKDAP, a Hong Kong dollar stablecoin, to the Solana blockchain. The move will allow native minting and redemption on Solana. It also seeks to facilitate almost instant settlement of payments and tokenized assets.

The partnership is the first time that HKDAP has planned to integrate with a public blockchain network. Furthermore, it could link Hong Kong dollar payments to Solana’s worldwide network of wallets, applications, and developers.

Anchorpoint Plans Native HKDAP Support on Solana

As part of the memorandum of understanding, Anchorpoint will strive to support native HKDAP minting and redemption on Solana. This would enable the participating users and businesses to create and redeem the stablecoin directly on the network.

The planned integration is designed to facilitate quicker transfers and regular payments. For instance, HKDAP could provide retail payments and other services that demand rapid settlement. It may also enable businesses to tap into Hong Kong dollar-denominated tokenized products.

In addition, Anchorpoint will collaborate with partners in the Solana ecosystem to increase access. The companies want to link HKDAP to corporate partners and consumer applications.

Solana is home to around $4.9 billion worth of real-world assets tokenized. It also has over 835,000 real-world asset holders.

Moreover, Samsung Wallet’s partnership with Solana demonstrates its commitment to mainstream users. The announcement, however, is not a launch, but cooperation that is planned.

Solana Foundation Joins Anchorpoint’s Tokenized Money Programme

Solana Foundation is also a strategic partner of Anchorpoint’s Tokenised Money Adoption Programme (TAP). The foundation joins PwC, which recently became part of the programme.

Through TAP, Solana Foundation will work with industry participants on cooperation and knowledge sharing. The programme is designed to help the regulated stablecoin and tokenization ecosystem in Hong Kong. The partnership goes beyond the technical integration of HKDAP.

The partnership comes as a result of Solana’s joining the OASES programme in Hong Kong. Solana Foundation is also planning to have a local presence in the city.

Anchorpoint and Solana Foundation also hope to increase the global adoption of HKDAP. They say the stablecoin is a regulated payment, product and investment tool for Hong Kong dollar payments.

What HKDAP Could Mean for Tokenized Assets

Stablecoins bridge the gap between traditional and blockchain-based currencies. In this instance, HKDAP is intended to be used as a representation of the Hong Kong dollar on digital networks. That value might be easier to transfer with its planned Solana integration.

In the case of tokenized assets, quicker settlement can facilitate fund transfers between applications and products. It can also be used to facilitate businesses in exploring payment and investment services in Hong Kong dollars.

The announcement does not specify a deployment date or rollout schedule. The companies haven’t revealed the timing of the launch or the specific applications. Thus, users should consider the Solana expansion as a planned project.

The agreement thus outlines a plan and not a live service. In summary, the partnership brings together a stablecoin from Hong Kong and the tokenized asset ecosystem on Solana. HKDAP, if implemented as intended, could increase the use of the Hong Kong dollar for payments and facilitate new tokenized asset services.
