Polygon completes its Coinme acquisition, adding regulated US payment services to Open Money Stack and supporting cross-border transfers, payroll, and dollar access.
Polygon Labs has completed its acquisition of Coinme, expanding its regulated payment services across the United States. The agreement brings money transfer capabilities to Polygon Open Money Stack, bridging traditional payment systems with blockchain technology. As a result, businesses will have more avenues to transfer dollars, stablecoins, and other digital assets.
Polygon Adds Regulated US Payment Services
After the acquisition, Polygon’s payments division operates in 48 states in the United States. It is licensed by the state as a money transmitter and enjoys 11 exemptions. Further, the business is registered as a money services business with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).

These approvals assist Polygon to link blockchain transactions with current monetary systems. Banking services, cards and cash deposits can be used to deposit money into payment networks. In the interim, blockchain infrastructure can transfer value between accounts before the recipient can access their funds.

Polygon Open Money Stack is a collection of payment services in a single platform. These comprise accounts, wallets, payment routing between blockchains, and settlement infrastructure.
Furthermore, the platform is designed to facilitate payments from the first deposit to the last payment. Businesses can transfer money internationally and provide customers with accounts or balances. This will make payment operations easier for businesses that have customers in various countries.
But regulated coverage does not imply that all services are available everywhere. Each product is subject to relevant legislation and licensing. Therefore, companies need to take into account the restrictions that may apply to a particular market before providing services.
Tazapay, Mesh, Toku and Kira Adopt Polygon OMS
Polygon’s first customers with Open Money Stack are Tazapay, Mesh, Toku and Kira. They provide services for international business payments, account funding, global payroll and access to US dollars. These companies show various applications of the platform by businesses.
Tazapay offers cross-border payment infrastructure for enterprises, marketplaces and financial technology companies. It supports more than 1,000 businesses and fintechs in more than 30 countries. Polygon OMS allows Tazapay to integrate stablecoins with local currencies via on/off-ramps and wallet services.
Meanwhile, Mesh is rolling out more on-ramp services to increase access to digital asset payments. It has over 300 wallets, exchanges and financial services connected to its network. This connection could enable users to fund accounts without businesses having to establish separate connections.
Toku specializes in employment and payroll services worldwide in over 100 countries. Its integration allows for wallet and payout features, linking stablecoin earnings to local currencies. This means that workers who are eligible can be provided with conversion services in a compliant payroll process.
Kira links businesses to US banking services and stablecoin solutions. It offers account opening, payment tracking, and transactions via systems such as ACH, Fedwire, FedNow, and SWIFT. Kira also employs AI agents to handle administrative duties, and all decisions are made by humans.
Overall, the acquisition of Coinme by Polygon enhances its strategy of bridging the gap between blockchain and traditional financial systems. But the broader impact of the platform will rely on customer adoption, regulatory adherence, and secure payment processes. Polygon is set to facilitate cross-border and financial system payments as businesses increasingly adopt these services.
